AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS AND FUNDING FOR
"TOWARD WATER SECURITY"

RESEARCH PROJECT

 

Ho Chi Minh City, January 14, 2013 - In the Conference Hall B4 of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam Brewery Limited (VBL) celebrated the undergraduate scholarship & research funding in water environment of young talent supporting program - "Toward water  security".

The young talent support program "Toward water security" was announced by VBL and Saigon Economic Times - the accompanying unit of the program on June 4, 2012. Aiming at contributing to supporting and developing team of young scientists in the field of environment, who have dreams and desire of long-lasting contribution to the research, management and conservation of water resources in Vietnam, the program has been implemented by VBL for five consecutive years from 2012 to 2017 with a total budget of VND 7.7 billion.

In the first year of 2011 - 2012, the program received 14 research projects on environment and water environment and 30 profiles applying for undergraduate scholarships. The Selection Council selected 03 research projects and 12 undergraduate scholarships meeting the requirements of the program.

After the scholarship awards ceremony for six students and funding for three research projects held in Ho Chi Minh City, the program would continue holding Scholarship Awards Ceremony for six students of Can Tho University on Jan 21, 2013 in Can Tho.

Information about the Young talent supporting program - "Toward water security"

The program consists of two main activities:

- Award scholarships for university students specialized in Environment / Environmental Economics

- Financial support for young scientists in working on research projects regarding to water environment.

1. UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS:

- The value of annual scholarships: 15,000,000 VND / scholarship/ 01 year

- Terms and conditions for application:

+ Vietnamese citizens, living from Quang Tri to Ca Mau

+ Have not been awarded regular scholarships from other organizations and individuals

+ Having majors related to environment, have completed the first year of university in Vietnam;

+ Candidates achieving excellent academic results in the first year at university (GPA ≥ 8 or ≥ 7 for poor students) and must be nominated for participation by principal or dean.

2. GRANTS FOR SMALL RESEARCHES IN WATER RESOURCES:

- Research duration: maximum of 12 months for each research

- The grant value: 120,000,000 VND/topic

- Terms and conditions for application:

+ Vietnamese citizens, living from Quang Tri to Ca Mau.

+ Have not been awarded grants from other organizations and individuals.

+ From 23 to 35 years old.

+ Have Bachelor or Master Degree in Environmental Science/ Environmental Economics.

+ Have the consent and support from the head of unit.

+ Research project in accordance with  program objectives.
