VBL ORGANIZES SCHOLARSHIP & RESEARCH SPONSORSHIP GRANT CEREMONY UNDER YOUNG TALENT SUPPORT PROGRAMME "TOWARDS WATER SECURITY" 2015 - 2016

Can Tho, January 20 2016 - At Can Tho University, Vietnam Brewery Limited (VBL) held a ceremony presenting university scholarships and research funding to young talents under the programme “Towards Water Security” in the 2015 - 2016 school year. 11 students and one research project in ​​Can Tho and other provinces were the beneficiaries.

In the school year 2015-2016, the programme will award 59 scholarships, worth a total of VND 847.5 million, of which 20 scholarships will go to students who have achieved excellent academic results and received the grant for the first time, and 39 scholarships will go to those who received scholarships last year and have continued good academic performance this year.

Also in 2015-2016, four research projects meeting the programme’s criteria were provided with total funding of VND 420 million, namely: i) a study into applying Sponge MBR technology to reduce antibiotics in medical waste water, ii) a study into nutrition withdrawal and algae biomass development, applying membrane photobioreactors (MBPR); iii) a study into removing organic and inorganic pollutants in contaminated surface water by the adsorption/flocculation method using denatured bentonite clay, and iv) a study into the application of a multi-agent system for irrigation water management in large paddy fields in the Mekong Delta.

This is the fourth year VBL has carried out the programme “Towards Water Security”. To date, the programme has awarded 96 scholarships to students majoring in environmental studies, worth VND 1.987,5 billion, and funded 16 research projects on water resources, worth VND 1.860 billion.

On January 21, 2016, VBL will hand nine scholarships and three research grants to students and post-graduates at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education.
