VBL organizes scholarship & research sponsorship grant ceremony

On January 21, at HCMC University of Technology and Education, VBL handed scholarships to 28 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Environment and granted support to 3 research projects in HCM City under the Young Talent Supports program "Towards Water Security" in the 2015 - 2016 academic year.

In the school year 2015-2016, the programme will award 59 scholarships, worth a total of VND 847.5 million, of which 20 scholarships will go to students who have achieved excellent academic results and received the grant for the first time, and 39 scholarships will go to those who received scholarships last year and have continued good academic performance this year.

Also in 2015-2016, four research projects meeting the programme’s criteria were provided with total funding of VND 420 million, namely: i) a study into applying Sponge MBR technology to reduce antibiotics in medical waste water, ii) a study into nutrition withdrawal and algae biomass development, applying membrane photobioreactors (MBPR); iii) a study into removing organic and inorganic pollutants in contaminated surface water by the adsorption/flocculation method using denatured bentonite clay, and iv) a study into the application of a multi-agent system for irrigation water management in large paddy fields in the Mekong Delta.

This is the 4th year that VBL has launched the program "Towards Water Security". To date, the program has awarded 135 scholarships to students of Faculty of Environment and sponsored 16 scientific research projects on water resources, with a total value of nearly VND4 billion.
