THE 2015 ENVIRONMENT ACTION PROGRAM

"1 MINUTE LESS FOR MILLION SMILES"

Ho Chi Minh City, 05^th June, 2015 – In response to the World Environment Day, Vietnam Brewery Limited (VBL) in cooperation with Vietnam Youth Federation organized the 2015 environment action program “1 Minute Less For Million Smiles”, with the aim of raising the community awareness on the importance of clean water as well as the necessity of joining hands in saving and protecting the water resource. Being one of the “1 Minute Less For Million Smiles” long-term campaign’s  activity held  by VBL and Vietnam Youth Federation, this environment action program has contributed to delivering the goal of  “1 million good deeds for environment and water resources”.

More than 100 VBL staffs and 300 members of Vietnam Youth Federation of District 12 joined voluntarily the 2015 environment action program “1 Minute Less For Million Smiles”. After kicking off, volunteers separating into many groups, together communicate & cascade the message to call for water saving and protecting via propaganda boards at 8 crossroads as well as delivered leaflets to local residents in District 12. In addition, another volunteer group also cleared off Bến Nghé canal of An Phú Đông Ward, District 12, which helped preserve the water source for the fresh and green life of local people. These actions contributed to spreading the joining-hands message of saving and protecting the water resource for our own future (Detailed areas/sites where the program took place to be attached).

Beside on-site propaganda efforts, the program also had other propaganda channels that are its website and fanpage. Since 2015, to encourage the community to save and protect the water source, the website www.1phuttietkiemtrieuniemvui.com.vn would call for joining hands from community by contributing “1 million good deeds for environment and water”. Members can share photos depicting good actions, do the commitment as well as share their practical, useful initiatives of saving and protecting the water source.

“1 Minute Less For Million Smiles” is one of many community activities initiated & organized by VBL since 2012 in order to raise awareness of saving and protecting the water resource as well as to support clean water connection to many localities. Since 2015, with the partnership with Vietnam Youth Federation, “1 Minute Less For Million Smiles” is expected to widespread the campaign’s meaningful message and contribute to build clean water constructions for the communities.

            ABOUT VBL'S ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION ACTIVITIES

In many years, VBL has always been a pioneer in environment and water resources protection in the industry. From the consumption of 6 liters of water/one liter of beer at the first years of operation, VBL has managed to reach the consumption of 3.6 liters of water/one liter of beer thanks to heavy investment on new equipment and water-saving solutions. The company now targets at reaching the consumption of 2.5 liters of water/one liter of beer.

Apart from the “1 Minute Less For Million Smiles”, VBL’s Young Talent Support “Towards Water Security” program has been realized and conducted in 5 consecutive years, from 2012 to 2017. Specifically, VBL provides scholarship for university students majored in Environment, Environmental Economy and sponsors young scientists’ researches on water environment with the total amount of over 7.5 billion in 5 years.  The program aims to encourage and develop a pool of Vietnamese scientists who shall contribute their knowledge in the research, management and conservation of water resources in Vietnam.
