Tiger Beer uncages local street football talent with roaring grand final and announces street football community support program

  • Tiger Street Football concluded today with a spectacular Grand Final in the streets of Crescent Residence, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City
  • The top local team squared off against a team of international football legends, including  National Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam, led by Rio Ferdinand in the opportunity of a lifetime

Ho Chi Minh City, June 23, 2019 – Thousands of street football fans hit the streets of Nguyen Khac Viet, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City today for the action-packed Grand Final tournament of the Tiger Street Football campaign by Tiger Beer, Asia’s leading international premium beer.

The spectacular showdown featured Dat Vinh Tien - the top local team in Vietnam battling it out on the field in an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity against a team of international football legends including Roberto Carlos (Brazil), Luis Figo (Portugal), Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast) and Park Ji-sung (South Korea), led by Tiger Street Football 2019 Ambassador and former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand. Joining these five football legends was National Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam – Tiger Street Football 2019 Local Ambassador. Dat Vinh Tien team was crowned Tiger Street Football 2019 champion and received the grand prize of VND 100 million.

Beyond the tournaments which gave local talents a stage to showcase their skills, Tiger Street Football 2019 sees Tiger Beer extending its support for street football in Vietnam by providing new spaces for more emerging street footballers to improve their footwork. Tiger Beer will be building three football pitches for local communities across Vietnam, building on Tiger’s longstanding commitment to support local talents in uncaging their passion.

Highlights of the Tiger Street Football 2019:

  • The Grassroots Tournament was held in 20 cities and provinces with the participation of more than 1,200 local teams.
  • The Regional Tournament took place in four key cities: Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang and Hai Phong, featuring the 32 best local teams across Vietnam.
