HEINEKEN Vietnam honored amongst best companies to work for in Asia

People development is top priority for HEINEKEN Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City, 14 September 2018 – HEINEKEN Vietnam has been recognized as one of the best companies to work for in Asia by the HR Asia Magazine, one of Asia’s leading publications for HR professionals. The recognition was announced at a ceremony held on September 14th, 2018, in HCMC, Vietnam, for the first time, witnessed the crowning of the best companies to work for in Asia - Vietnam Chapter.

Awardees were selected from a pool of 130 nominees across 24 industries, based on proprietary research that assessed the company's working environment, HR practices, employee engagement and job satisfaction. This year, thousands of employees across Vietnam responded to the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Survey. HR Asia, a publication of Business Media International, developed this proprietary survey in consultation with a team of senior industry practitioners and leading thought leaders.

Mr Don stated that HEINEKNE Vietnam’s business success was very much due to its commitment to its people.

Because people are at the heart of HEINEKEN Vietnam’s business, HEINEKEN Vietnam has invested immensely in developing staff, at all levels. Employees working at HEINEKEN Vietnam benefit from the Company’s people development program to increase their capacities and skillsets, as well as innovative programs like short-term assignments and graduate programs that give Vietnamese employees the chance to experience work in other HEINEKEN companies all around the world. Key development programs HEINEKEN Vietnam has passionately pursued include;

For tertiary graduates: a number of intensive programs have been designed for them to learn and grow within the first two years of their engagement. Two different “GO PLACES” programs are currently offered to help budding professionals kick-start their career at HEINEKEN.

  1. The Asia Pacific Graduate Program (APGP)
  2. HEINEKEN Vietnam Graduate program (HVGP).

Both recruitment programs are great opportunities for young talents who are keen on building a career with an international company and work in a culturally diverse environment. We believe in recruiting and enhancing young and driven talents in the company, to ensure long-term success. In joining these programs, graduates have the opportunity to fast-track their career development and travel around Vietnam, South East Asia and the Pacific, on different assignments, under the guidance of dedicated mentors from Management. Both programs offer an exciting journey and attractive development package, whereby the candidates undergo training for two years before they settle into a permanent job in one of the Company departments that best suits their potential. Apart from building an extensive knowledge base and diverse skill set, young recruits get to build their leadership capabilities as well, as they work their way towards a managerial role, either in HEINEKEN Vietnam or in other HEINEKEN operating companies.

For the mid-career professionals: employees receive relevant professional skills training and leadership programs that help them maximise their potential by giving them an opportunity to work at HEINEKEN around the world. Recently, HEINEKEN’s Short term Assignment (STA) initiative has seen significant results. Short term Assignments aim to provide various skills to participants and help them uncage their potential by developing themselves in diverse working environments.

In 2017, the Company invested VND18.9 billion in developing its’ people, including over 2,600 training hours for employees on road safety and health. HEINEKEN Vietnam went further by providing over 6,000 hours of training for its distributors and sub-distributors. HEINEKEN Vietnam employees also spent over 2,000 volunteer hours on charity and advocacy initiatives and the Company invested a further VND7.8 billion in direct community support initiatives. These investments are a testament to HEINEKEN Vietnam’s commitment to ensure a highly skilled workforce.
