This organization has also performed the validation of 100% renewable energy for Heineken® in the Netherlands.
About the mass allocation method
The validation of 100% renewable energy for Heineken® in Vietnam is based on an assessment through the mass allocation method – a globally used auditing approach.
Recognized by the European Union, the mass allocation method is an official auditing approach used in the Renewable Energy Directive and the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Protocol to calculate emissions levels.
The validation in Vietnam has been performed by Blue Terra Energy Experts, an independent energy consultancy that has also performed the validation of 100% renewable energy for Heineken® in the Netherlands.
Currently, HEINEKEN Vietnam’s total share of renewable energy used in production stands at 96%. This amount has exceeded the necessary share of renewable energy needed to produce all Heineken® products.
This is an important premise for Blue Terra to endorse that Heineken® is being brewed with 100% renewable energy in Vietnam.
About EACs
Currently, 100% of the electrical demand for Heineken® production in Vietnam is covered by Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) sourced from Phu Yen & Bang Duong solar projects in Vietnam.
Towards the future, HEINEKEN Vietnam is also exploring some bolder renewable electricity solutions, including Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) and rooftop solar installment.
